We are all born with the potential for greatness – yet most of us achieve far below our potential – while a small handful become highly successful. To rank among this group you must use the good habits that get you there. Greatness is a virtue you must consciously practice all the time. Be so focused on greatness and go after it with an unwavering belief in your abilities to achieve a successful, great rewarding & happy life !!!
#1. Have a Sense of Mission & Vision.
The mindset necessary for achieving greatness lies in understanding that being successful is not your ultimate goal. To strive for greatness you must be well-rounded (& I don’t mean fat). You must be more interested in having a Mission that touches others & a Vision on how you will fulfill it. Be willing to step out of the box. Strive to be a pioneer, a trend setter, a game changer + a radical thinker who is deeply driven to make this world a better place.
#2. Refining your Vision & Mission
The purpose of goal-setting, is to clarify the Vision for your business. This stage consists of identifying three key facets: 1) short & long-term goals 2) identify the process of how to accomplish your goal & 3) organize the process for your staff. Five each person a task with which he can succeed. Keep in mind during this process your goals should be SMART. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant & Timely – to achieve your Vision. Typically, the final step in this stage is to write a Mission statement that succinctly communicates your goals to both your shareholders and your staff.
#3. Plan a Strategy
The first step in forming a strategy is to review the information gleaned from completing the analysis of your Vision. Determine what resources the business currently has, that can help reach the defined goals. Identify any areas of which the business must seek external resources. The issues facing the company should be “prioritized” by their importance to your success. Once prioritized, begin formulating the strategy.
#4. Implement your Strategy
Successful strategy implementation is critical to the success of a business. If the overall strategy does not work with the business’ current structure, a new structure should be created at the beginning of this stage. Everyone within the organization must be made clear of their responsibilities & duties + how it fits in with the overall goal.
#5. Monitor, Evaluate & Direct as needed.
Strategy evaluation & control actions include performance measurements, consistent review of internal & external issues + making corrective actions when necessary. Monitoring internal and external issues will also enable you to react to any substantial change in your business environment. If you determine that the strategy is not moving the company toward its goal, take corrective actions. If those actions are not successful, then re-evaluate, etc. Because internal and external issues are constantly changing, any data gained in this stage should be retained to help with any future strategies.
#6. Get Organized
To be successful in business, you need to be organized. Organization will help you complete tasks and stay on top of things to be done. A good way to do this is to create or update your To-Do list each day. As you complete each item, check it off your list. This will ensure that you’re not forgetting anything and you’re completing all the tasks that are essential to the survival of your business.
#7. have Dedication & Desire . . .
are the two habits necessary to accomplish your Mission & Vision. 1) an unwavering Dedication to your cause & 2) the Desire to make a significant difference. To achieve greatness you have to know the deeper reasons for building your business. It is these deeper emotional reasons where you discover a well of passion, dedication, perseverance & the willingness to fight the failure, the forge the victory.
#8. Start with a Strong set of Core Values.
To unlock your greatness – be clear on your values. Your values are the unconscious motivators which shape your future. It is your values which drive your actions & behaviors. Be clear on the mission & values your business stands for and + what goals are on the line to make you unique to your customer. They love to invest in and be a part of any mission they believe in and one they see as beneficial. Anyone who has reached greatness, is fanatical about the values upon which their business stands.
#9. have an Un-Wavering Belief in your Vision.
Your beliefs develop the foundational rules of how you play the game of success. To be a great achiever – in effect – you have to create a rule book (real or virtual) that enhances your success and sets you apart from the average person whose self-limiting beliefs keeps them thinking small & living small. An unwavering belief in your vision will lead to your greatness. Adopt a rebel heart. Refuse to take “no” for an answer. Be courageous enough to go against the grain. Rise to the occasion when faced with obstacles. The only person who can stop your greatness is you. If you fail get up and try again and again. This gives you the resiliency necessary for creating a strong mind. Rid yourself of each (-) belief you outgrow along your journey and grow new (+) beliefs to put in place of the old.
#10. Analyze your Competition
They may be doing something right that you can implement in your business. Study them thoroughly to figure out how you can be “Better, Faster, Cheaper”.
#11. Enjoy the Challenge of achieving Greatness.
Commit yourself to defying the odds, overcoming huge challenges & taking the road less traveled. Instant gratification does not bring happiness, greatness or success. Happiness comes from the pursuit of excellence. Accept that – to be great – you must journey where others avoid. They are not brave enough to seek greatness. See your challenges as stepping stones to you playing a much bigger game. Do not give in when you get a rejection. Keep striving.
#12. Always be Improving
Always be looking for ways to improve your business and to make it stand out from the competition. Recognize that you don’t know everything and be open to new ideas and new approaches to your business.
#13. Make more “better” Decisions.
Greatness is a commitment. To make a definitive decision means to cut out all other possibilities. In other words, neither failure nor distraction are options to those who choose to be successful. Analyze your decisions to determine if they are getting you where you want to go. Strive to learn quickly what works to grow your business and what decisions are taking you off course, then get back on the path.
#14. Provide Great Service
If you provide better service for your customers, they’ll be more inclined to come to you the next time they need something instead of going to your competition.
#15. Daily Goals & Work Habits.
Behind every extraordinary successful person is the discipline of creating daily goals backed by work habits which significantly move you to your goals. Most – so-called – “overnight success” is a myth. Success is about sticking to it and the culmination of consistent small steps over time. True success in any field boils down to your days filled with learning, hard work & perseverance. To reach your desired levels of greatness, develop habits that promote your success. Rid yourself of habits that get in your way, such as pro-crastination.
#16. Self-Confidence.
Success – and your ability to achieve it – largely boil down to seeing and identifying yourself as the single most powerful influence on your future. Great achievers, at some point, trust in their true nature. Stay committed to learning from your past, rather than letting it hold you back. Don’t allow current obstacles/ circumstances dictate your future. Let it be your constant quest to improve your life, thru your vision of yourself & your business. This will catapult you a cut of above the rest. Believe you are destined for greatness. Analyze the ways in which you allow your past to define you and find solutions to change those beliefs. Write down what and who you want to become. Show it to friends and you mentors – for feed-back.
#17. Be Consistent
Consistency is a key component to making money in business. You have to consistently keep doing what is necessary to be successful day in and day out. This will create long-term positive habits that will help you make money in the long run.
